New Faculty FAQs

How do I bring my class in for instruction?

The DIU library staff are happy to provide research instruction for your class and can work with you to highlight resources which you feel are most pertinent to your area of focus. Due to the hybrid structure of most classes, we find it generally works best for us to come to your classroom to demonstrate online resources, then follow up with a physical tour of our library for onsite students if desired.

How long may I borrow an inter-library loan item?

Inter-library loan due dates are set by the lending institution, as are the renewal periods.  For this reason, the loan period may vary greatly from item to item.

May I renew my inter-library loan items?

When we receive the item via inter-library loan, it will include instructions as to whether a renewal period is allowed.

How long does it take to receive an inter-library loan item?

Books generally take a minimum of two weeks to receive.  Digital copies of journal articles may arrive in as little as one to three days.

May I request that the library purchase a particular book?

Yes!  We invite purchase requests from our faculty members.  Please place the request from your DIU email account, and include the full title, author, and publication date information.  Requests which delineate an item will be supplementary reading in a particular course will be given priority.  Your request may be submitted via email to library@diu.edu.

How do I request materials be placed on course reserve in the library or on a course guide in my Canvas course shell?
